Phallus Indusiatus is commonly called in English long net stinkhorn crinoline stinkhorn or veiled lady. It is a stinkhorn fungus which grows in bamboo thickets in China. This gives rise to its alternate common name of bamboo fungus or bamboo pith and its Chinese name zhu sheng or zhu sun. It is eaten as a vegetable in some cuisines of southern China particularly that of the southwestern province of Yunnan. In Chinese traditional medicine Phallus Indusiatus is claimed to help reduce high blood pressure and assist the immune system. Directions: Soak Phallus Indusiatus in warm water for ten minutes then cut open and clean. Next cut into strips and squeeze out excess water. Makes a nice addition to meat based soups.
