This is 2" outside diameter PVC pipe, designed specifically for central vacuum systems. Regular Schedule 40 (SCH-40) PVC pipe is normally 2" inside diameter, but 2.5" outside diameter. The normal SCH-40 PVC pipe, because of it's thicker inside diameter will cause clogging, and loss of suction in central vacuum systems. Also the SCH-40 PVC pipe will not fit into the inlets of most central vacuum systems. The thinner 2" outside diameter PVC pipe for central vacuum will allow maximum air flow, and greatly reduce the amount of clogs in your central vacuum system. The 2" outside diameter pipping is standard for all central vacuum systems. It is sold in 10 8ft sections, or 80 feet total. Also important is to make sure that the central vacuum pipe is virgin, and not made made from recycled plastics. GoVacuum does not sell any recycled pipe made from ground up plastic, and does NOT recommend using this type of pipe in central vacuum systems. Recycled PVC pipe can contain other non-plastic material such as stone, or metal, and can cause the pipe not to glue together properly, cause tears, holes, inconsistent wall thickness, rough inside surfaces, or pipe that will easily crack. Make sure that the pipe you use says "ASTM F2158" (American Society for Testing Materials) printed on every piece of pipe.
